Best-Selling Leading Authorities Authors

As you consider the line-up for your fall meetings, I wanted to drop you a note and call attention to a number of our speakers who are getting a tremendous amount of attention for their best-selling books. These authors are all talented speakers, and few things add buzz to a meeting than a keynote who has a popular new book.

Tony Schwartz is back on the best-seller lists with The Way We're Working Isn't Working. Drawing deeply on the science of high performance, Schwartz offers tangible ideas and action plans to make the day more positive, productive, and meaningful for both individuals and organizations. In his high energy presentations, Tony shares ways we can all perform our jobs at a higher level.

Paco Underhill is the author of the most popular book on consumer behavior, Why We Buy: The Science of Shopping, and his new book, What Women Want, is getting lots of advance press. Paco's talks are customized to focus on what makes people buy more of our products and services.

John Hofmeister, the former CEO of Shell Oil, has a new book called Why We Hate the Oil Companies, that has landed him multiple appearances on Today, Good Morning America, Larry King Live, and more. In his speeches, John explores the future of energy resources and offers a balanced and practical look at our country's energy future.

Marshall Goldsmith's latest book, MOJO, continues to sell, and he's garnered media appearances with Diane Sawyer of ABC World News and more. Marshall is corporate America's most sought-after executive coach, and his presentations are funny, insightful, and full of usable take-away.

Matthew Bishop's new book The Road From Ruin: How to Revive Capitalism and Put America Back on Top has been consistently praised for providing a comprehensive and highly readable reaction to the economic crisis. The American business editor and New York bureau chief of The Economist, Bishop's talks skillfully describe the missteps that caused the recent collapse, the lessons learned, and the prescriptions needed for reform.

We look forward to working with you. Please don't hesitate to call me or your LAI representative with any questions at 1-800-SPEAKER.

Give your audience a global view

One of the most important things you can offer your audience is an updated perspective on the state of global politics and the ever-changing international landscape. The best way to open a meeting is with a speaker that gives your people a broader view of what's going on in the world. Our speakers detail America's place on the world stage with the experience gained from serving on the frontlines of current events, offering comprehensive, unbiased opinions, and practical insight for all of your attendees.

Stephen Hadley, the Former National Security Advisor, is an expert on international affairs, and can drill down to the details in every part of the world, from China and South Asia to Latin America and the Middle East.

Michael Hayden, Former Director of the CIA and former Director of the NSA is a riveting speaker, who provides the ultimate insider's glimpse into America's opportunities and challenges abroad.

Nick Burns, one of the country's top career diplomats, breaks down the forces shaping the global economy, and brings a sense of optimism based on a life spent forging alliances.

Haiyan Wang, the managing partner of the China India Institute, was one of the first Chinese women to study international business in the U.S. and is an expert on creating winning global strategies that leverage the transformational rise of China and India.

Tom Schieffer, the U.S. Ambassador to Japan from 2005 to 2009, examines our evolving security relations with Japan and China, and the chances for greater trade between the U.S. and Asia.

Jeffrey Garten, a former political and trade advisor and investment banker, discusses the rising global competition and how companies should react and adjust, stimulating dialog about new trends with an eye toward politics.

Anil Gupta is one of the world's leading experts on globalization and business strategy, specializing in the emerging markets of Asia. He is the author, with Haiyan Wang of Getting China and India Right.

Daniel Christman, Sr. VP of International Affairs, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, examines the current state of the global economy, and the governmental, economic, and cultural hurdles that must be navigated by American industry abroad.

Tom Schieffer, Former U.S. Ambassador to Australia and Japan

Given that Japan is a very large market for the aerospace, agricultural, meat, pharmaceutical, and insurance industries, I wanted to share some information about former U.S. Ambassador Tom Schieffer who we represent for speaking activity.

Ambassador Schieffer visited our offices a couple weeks ago to meet with CEOs of industries with an interest in the U.S.-Japan trade relationship, and more broadly, the relationship between U.S. companies and our major trading partners in Asia (China, Korea, and Taiwan).

As Ambassador to Japan during the period from 2005-2009, Tom Schieffer was instrumental in the force transformation agreement negotiations, the six-party talks involving North Korea, the G-8 Summit in Hokkaido, and the U.S.-Japan trade relationship.

During his visit to our office, Ambassador Schieffer discussed the economic and political environment in Japan and a look at the players, prospects for a U.S.-Japan Free Trade Agreement, the Japanese fiscal situation, the impact of changing demographics, and the role of the U.S. as a counterweight to China.  He also discussed the supreme value of relationships in U.S.-Japanese business deals and the critical value of hierarchy.

For organizations with deep economic interests in Japan, China, and Korea, Ambassador Schieffer offers some unique insights at both the macro and micro levels.  As one who has interacted with the highest levels of Japanese representatives from business and politics, he provides a unique insiders' perspective that few can match.

Please drop me a line if you have an interest in bringing Tom Schieffer to your organization for a speaking engagement or executive briefing.

NY Times Article on Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski

This past Sunday, The New York Times did a feature on Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski.  If you missed it, here it is: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/09/fashion/09JoeMika.html.

Last week, I saw Joe Scarborough speak to the mutual fund industry at an event at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel. He was thoughtful and dynamic, and provided a fast-paced, interesting perspective on the current political and media landscape.  With a microphone in his hand, he paced the stage back and forth and provided one of the most entertaining programs I have seen on politics.

Mika Brzezinksi, daughter of Zbigniew Brzezinski,  is Joe's perfect compliment on television.  A media veteran (ABC and CBS), she joined MSNBC in 2007. She and Joe immediately bonded and have become the most popular duo on television.  They are also great matches for speeches.  Of The Times' article, Brzezinski says: "We love making fun of ourselves and each other, whether its on our political views or our weight!"

For a limited time, Leading Authorities is offering a very special arrangement for booking Joe and Mika together as a team.  If you are interested, please drop me a line at saul@lauthorities.com or at (202) 721-7675.

Leading Authorities...THE SOURCE for America's Top CEOs

Today more than ever, organizations want to hear from someone who has practiced what they are preaching. Leading Authorities is the exclusive representative of some of America's top CEOs--men and women who have performed dramatic corporate turnarounds, engineered feats of marketing wizardry, and been consistently praised by peers and industry observers.

AG Lafley, the former chairman and CEO of Procter & Gamble, speaks on innovation, strategy, and culture. Each talk is an unprecedented look into the mind behind one of the largest, and most successful, corporations in the world, and he is perfect for groups of top management teams, global leadership executives, and high-potential leaders who can meaningfully impact the future course of their company and their industry.

Jim Donald, the former CEO of Starbucks, built the brand during its peak growth period. In each highly customized speech, he sheds light on what works in businesses large and small.  Jim, a fierce advocate for front line employees, believes it is people that make the biggest difference, and his talks focus on how to make the most of those around you.

Gordon Bethune, the former CEO of Continental Airlines, is celebrated for leading the company from worst to first -- a case study still taught at Harvard Business School. He reveals a unique brand of management wisdom that prizes employee engagement and empowerment, and unprecedented customer service. Each presentation is as entertaining as it is informative.

Carlos Gutierrez, the former chairman and CEO of Kellogg's Company, is one of the best leadership speakers I have ever seen. He goes to great lengths to customize his speeches, and shares his belief in hiring the right people, developing great teams, and communicating effectively. His personal story from his days as a delivery boy for Kellogg's in Mexico City, to his rise as one of the most respected CEOs, inspires everyone that they can make a difference.

John Hofmeister, the straight-shooting former CEO of Shell Oil Company, presents a powerful keynote based on his new book Why We Hate the Oil Companies. Finding a speaker with Hofmeister's level of candor, insight, and urgency is rare, and he proposes a practical plan for how the U.S. can achieve both energy security and affordability.

Dawn Hudson, the former president and CEO of Pepsi, refers to the voice of the client and provides a tailored message to an audience in search of a change of business structure and strategy. She also discusses the balance between work and life, and the choices that people must make when pursuing the road to optimum happiness and professional satisfaction.

Tom Donohue, the president and CEO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, is a DC insider with  unflagging energy and influence. He knows how to rally an audience and shares a behind-the-scenes perspective on the how the Chamber's legislative achievements and challenges will affect your industry.
